A method used to identify the gene product of a cloned gene. The cloned
DNA is immobilized and hybridized with a mixed
mRNA sample, so that only mRNA sequences
homologous to the cloned DNA will be retained. These mRNA molecules are subsequently removed and translated
in vitro.
