chromosome mutation

chromosome mutation
A change in the gross structure of a chromosome, usually causing severely deleterious effects in the organism, but can be maintained in a population (See: chromosomal polymorphism). They are often due to meiotic errors. The main types of chromosome mutation are translocation, duplication, s and inversion.
